We caught Rufus Wainwright at the Crystal Ballroom last night. Can anyone explain his new Austrian connection? At any rate, he looks fabulous in Lederhosen, much better than his Liza Minelli get up.
With his band sporting an awesome instrumental quartet of horns and woodwinds, a packed room stood 3 hours on foot being wooed by Wainwright's smooth, jazzy stylings with the occasional big sounding number. The encore set included a familiar cover solo of Hallelujah and a high energy costumed finale with the entire band
Opening for Wainwright were Fine Frenzy and Sean Lennon.
