Christ! Carla breaks out the claws!

Well, it seems US Senate candidate Jeff Merkley and his webmistress, Carla (of Preemptive Karma and Loaded Orygun fame) have parted ways. She's still shilling for Merkley online, but is under some delusion that her rants won't reflect poorly on her old boss now that she's "independent." She dropped this bomb on me today. (And Mom, NO, i have no idea what she's talking about!)

"When you beat up your boyfriend and he left you for another guy..who got the Elton John CDs and who got the china?

Did he leave you because of your vile temperament or did he kick your ass to the curb because of the way you blackened his eye when you broke your hand on his face?" - Carla Axtman, ex Merkley "Netroots" staffer

It all started (again) when Carla (again) exaggerated Jeff Merkley's anti-war cred. This from the Daily Kos

Against the war (3+ / 0-)

The statements in question might not be the hard-ass wording that you wanted..but they are definitely against the war.
Merkley affirmed in the WW endorsement interview that he is for gay marriage. Its been posted ad nauseum.
Its time for you to end this.

I certainly don't want to see Smith re-elected to bolster the minority opposition, but you make it very hard for me to support Speaker Merkley when you continue to exaggerate his anti-war cred.
Ad nauseum, indeed.

...then stop acting like it.

The primary is over. We all get that you wanted Novick. It didn't happen.

Jeff spoke out against the Iraq War, Hans. Sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming to yourself doesn't change that.

You make it incredibly difficult to come together as progressives with the way you constantly nitpick and BS about Jeff. Its pretty obvious that you're not here to support our candidate...so what's the point?

This is Merkley's problem... (0+ / 2-)

When Jeff Merkley's own internet mistress equates quoting him (in context) with "acting like" I want to see Smith re-elected. I kept pretty mum after the election, Carla. So save your "screaming" BS for your real opponents. I wouldn't have to set the record straight if you'd quit lying about it?

Against the war from the start? This is his glorious "anti-war" floor speech.

"[The Iraq war] is a conversation or a debate for another day." By all means, go back and read his entire milque toast to Bush & Co....

Carla, I now know why YOU tried so hard to keep Merkley's "anti-war" column in the vault.

I want to see Smith defeated more than I want to see your campaign held accountable for the slimy, Clintonesque, "sure-we-can-buy-off-this-election" strategy you and Mandate Media (brain trust behind NovickInsultsDemocrats.com) have concocted.

So please, take this same advise I gave to your blog buddy, kevin karmaman. Shut up. (At least when it's your inclination to lie about the strengths of your candidate.)

I don't work for Jeff anymore. (2+ / 0-)

Which frees me up (finally) to call this entire line of bullshit you've been trying to get everyone to swallow whole exactly what it is.

Excerpting only part of Jeff's comment above is what you do, isn't it? A half-baked, scurrilous attempt to give only a partial statement. Like I said earlier, you gave up demonstrating any honest discourse on this long ago.

If you really wanted to see Smith defeated, as you say, you'd stop this childish temper tantrum and work to get it done. Instead, you post parsed out pieces of garbage in a blatant attempt to run down a wonderful progressive in Jeff Merkley. The way that you act matters, Hans. It demonstrates what you're really about. And you've demonstrated it over and over and over again here and elsewhere.

The advice you hand out here would best be served by you taking it yourself. You've worked to hijack the comment thread of a very nice diary by Sarah (who really IS interested in defeating Smith) and turned it into your personal litterbox. Not that you haven't done it before--but I had hoped post-primary that you'd show some spine and stop. My mistake.

When were you fired, Carla? (0+ / 0-)

And what DSCC funded out of stater took your place?

As for your hysterical rant that I quoted Merkley, "out of context" please note the link to (and the encouragement to read) Merkley's entire "floor speach" [sic]. (h/t Mitch "Lestat" Gore)

Give me a mo' to pull up the links where Merkley flipped on impeachment and gay marriage.

(You just had to ask for it, Carla. Did your contract with Merkley come with a money-back guarantee?)

That's the nature of what you're posting here, Hans. You really ought to consider editing yourself before you post that kind of crap.

Fess up, Carla (0+ / 0-)

Leaving politics to "spend more time with family" is classic. C'mon, you finally landed your dream job with Mandate-Merkley. Your insider politics (along with $500K thanks to Chuck Schumer and friends) helped Merkley to edge out Novick. You're on the cusp of seeing Merkley swept in on Obama's coat tails.

Two questions, Carla. 1) Why did you really leave the campaign, and 2) why do Merkley's surrogates continue to piss in the well?

When it comes to Carla, i have moved from skepitcal to disgusted. It's one thing for her to refer to her own family as a reason for quitting early. (But really, this excuse should be reserved for AARP qualified politicians.) But to say such ugly, personal things about the relationship between myself and my partner, and it says much more about the ugliness of the Merkley for Senate "Whatever it takes" campaign.
