Blum and Gloom LXI

[Week 60 / Week 61 / Week 62]

It's Fall already... Joe, the Lone Vet, was on leave today. It's only the second time in over a year of weekly vigils here at Rep. Earl Blumenauer's Portland office. [Thursday's - Noon to 2pm - 729 NE Oregon St.] The last time was when he had to accompany his wife to the the other vet whereupon they lost their beloved dog, so it could be serious. Word is he's out with a bad chest cold.

I don't relish the idea of another Winter asking Blumenauer to finally concede that Bush must be impeached. I underestimated how much damage Bush/Cheney & Co. could do before the Democrats politely usher them out of office next January. The recent bailouts of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and AIG ($285 BILLION) pencil out to a couple years' worth occupying Iraq and making Halliburton filthy rich. Someone's about to shoot the goose that laid the golden egg. (I'm looking at you, Dick Cheney!)

I was surprised today when a Blumenauer staffer came up behind me. She had a birthday card for fellow staffer, Willie Smith, who emerged later in festive regalia. Willie paid me the high compliment of not only having viewed my YouTube video Battlestar Galactica spoof, but he also gave it two thumbs up. Which means a lot coming from a fellow member of the performing arts.

If Earl Blumenauer were to follow Jim McDermott's lead and co-sponsor the impeachment bill, HRes 1345.

Sigh...
